As a past academic scholar of the French Government and an alumnus of the EDHEC Business School, a leading French business school, Thiruthiraj brings over 17 years of extensive experience. His collaborative work spans a variety of organisations, including large corporations, SMEs, public sector bodies, and NGOs, in countries such as France, the Netherlands, India, the UK, Mauritius, and South Africa.

Thiruthiraj's comprehensive business expertise encompasses a broad array of fields, including corporate strategy, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, investor relations, business intelligence, corporate governance, private sector development, and trade.

In spite of the diversification efforts undertaken over the past decade, the structure of the Mauritian economy, though resilient in appearance, remains weak with regard to its growth potential, and more so in the light of the emerging global megatrends. The intent to position Mauritius as a globally-competitive player in the fields of life sciences, blue economy, logistics and high-value added manufacturing is unlikely to bear fruits in the near future. The financial services and ICT sectors remain biased towards low-value added activities as they continue to suffer from a critical lack of competencies. Over the 2013-2017 period, 47% of the total amount of Gross Direct Investment captured by Mauritius was geared towards real estate activities which have limited positive spill-over effects and contribution towards the reinforcement of the country’s capability to create and capture sustainable value.
